Of Mice and Men Week of 4-07-14

Pages read: 1-38
Prompt: Explain one of the characters.

So far in the book, Lennie and George have been looking for a job.
When they got a job, the people there were a lot of other workers as well. One of them was a tall skinny man who was talking to the two boys about how everyone is. Then there was the bosses son, who was kind of being "bully" to Lennie. George kept taking for Lennie so it made Lennie seem like he was incapable of being able to do anything. George and Lennie seem like they have a very unique relationship.

Lennie is a kind of like the "shy" one. He never really gets to talk when someone asks him a question. George always does everything for Lennie and he doesn't give him a chance. I sort of feel bad for Lennie because it seems like no one believes in him. He is always getting "the short end of the stick". I wonder how he feels? Does he want to speak for himself? Does he like how George treats him? These are all questions that I have while reading. Does this still happen to Lennie throughout the book?

I wonder if Lennie continues to be picked on by the bosses son. What does he have against Lennie? Have the secretly met before? Lennie needs to learn how to stick up for himself and people need to treat him with respect. They also have to let him do things sometimes.

  3. Gianna,

I really really like your blog this week! I really like how you added some questions in your last paragraph, it made your blog come together. Do you think that Lennie is shy because that is his personality or because George is always telling him not to say a word? I look forward to more blogs!
