The Boy in the Striped Pajamas 2.27.14 *SPOILERS*

Pages Read: FINISHED!!
Prompt: Does the title fit the story? Why or why not?

So I finished the book! It was really good and I enjoyed reading it! It took me a while to read because I have been busy, but when I did read, I couldn't stop! So I have sad about how Bruno and his family are moving back to Berlin. They are going to move back without his dad. Bruno's dad is staying stationed there at "Out-With". Bruno is not so excited to back to Berlin anymore because he likes hanging out with Shmuel.

Bruno wants to hangout with Shmuel at least once before he moves to Berlin. Shmuel's dad went missing a few days back and so Bruno was going to go search for him with Shmuel. They met on the las t full day he was going to stay at "Out-With". So Shmuel brought over some striped pajamas over and had Bruno change. With a little hole under the fence, Bruno slipped under the fence and they started to walk over to the huts in the distant.

No one could see a difference between Bruno and every one else because they all looked the same. Bruno and Shmuel started to look for clues when it started to rain. Bruno said "I should probably get home for dinner." Then they walked under a hut and sat still. Bruno held Shmuel's hand and everyone gasped.

I think the title really suits the book because as you read, you understand what the book is actually about. The boy in the striped pajamas is a bout how the two boys from different sides come together. If you you wear striped pajamas then your no different from other people.

Found Poetry

This is my found poetry. The poem is about how a girl wants to be with a guy that her dad doesn't approve of. He didn't want to talk to her about it. The girls boyfriend said that he should write a letter to her dad and they could talk. She said her dad wouldn't do that. Finally after the girl moved, the letter from her dad finally arrived.

Nonsense Poem: "Sapphire"

                             "Sapphire"

The Sapphire sat still,
Not harming a soul,
Not making any noise.
Just blondering in the dark.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire.
Loneliness,  thats all she grew up with.
All she wanted was to be Flobberstictick.
In the dark,
Dead silence everywhere.
She was a brintistack ball of fire.
She made the room pop with color.

No one realized how ooberful she really was.

Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
You’ll be successful.

Red, Pink, Blue, Green,
The symbols of joy,
The comitalfull shnoodle of a warrior.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire.
The thing no one understands.
Just another one of those beautiful creatures inside of my head.

You are glintastic,
You are confident,
Most of all, you are worth it.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
Don’t doubt yourself,
I won’t doubt you.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
You are boshsnittle.

Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
You’re worth more than a gem,
More than all the money in the world.
You are a gubludub.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
How I love you so,
You’re the creature in my head,
The creature in my dreams,
You’re the creature in me.
Sapphire, oh, Sapphire,
You are the other half of me.

Blondering: crying in silence

Flobberstictick: overwhelmed by Happiness
Brintistack: bright, full of color
Ooberful: Amazing, fun
Comitalfull: courageous
Shnoodle:attitude
Gurbludub: Champion
Glintastic:  Brave
Boshsnittle: Beautiful, amazing

Reflection on Blogging this Year

I have not blogged this whole school year. I started blogging in January at the start of the third quarter. From the blogs that I have written, I think that I have improved. I feel that I have improved on my formatting and my details. By details, I mean that since I first started to blog, I now think that I have been explaining my thoughts a lot more. Now, when I blog I like to explain what I read in the book and explain my thoughts about what I read. I also like to explain my answer to whatever prompt I did for that week.

I have some things I need to work on personally to make my blogs be the best they could be. For example, I need to work on my word choice and make it more interesting. I feel that if I add more pictures and other stuff that describes the scenes in my book, then I will catch the readers eye. I also know that my word choice needs to be better. I should start using some of our vocabulary words.

By blogging, I can really connect with my class mates and see what types of books they like and what thoughts they have while reading. I can also find new books to read by reading my classmates' blogs. I like to blog because I can get all my thoughts of the book I'm reading down on to this awesome website. I look forward to reading future blogs and writing my own blogs.

Below are two of my favorite blogs that I have done. The fist blog that is pictured, is the where I'm from poem. The second blog is my character blog.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Week of: 2.20.14

Pages Read: 141-176
Prompt: Prediction- What do you think will happen next?

The first thing I read about in the pages I read for this week was that Bruno's grandmother died. Since Bruno hasn't seen his grandmother since she walked out on them a long time ago, he didn't get to say one last goodbye. The last memory he had of her was if a play he had preformed on Christmas over a year ago. When Bruno and his family got the news about the tragedy, they returned to their old home in Berlin for two days. For those two days, Bruno and Shmuel weren't able to talk to each other.

A few days later when Bruno and his family retuned back to Out-With, Bruno was getting ready to go see Shmuel again but then it started to rain. Since it was raining, they couldn't hangout and Bruno was worried for Shmuel. The next day it was Bruno's dad's birthday so his mom threw a party. While they were setting up for the party, Bruno was going to the living room to read. While he made his way down he ran into Lieutenant Kotler. Lieutenant Kotler stalled for a little while and then finally let him go and read his book. When Bruno was just about to go to the living room, he decided to get something to eat instead. When he walked into the kitchen he saw Shmuel cleaning glasses in the kitchen. Bruno was talking with Shmuel and gave him some food. Then lieutenant kotler came in from the other room and then he SCREAMED at Shmuel and called him a peasant. When the boys were dismissed from each other they didn't talk for one week. When they spoke again they held hands for the first time.

I think that Bruno and Shmuel will both get into big trouble from lieutenant kotler. I also think that Shmuel will get beaten or punished. When the boys see each other next time, I think they will get into an argument over what happened in the kitchen.

"Change"

I chose these four books because they mean something to me. I also chose them because make a nice message and it shows you that everything happens for a reason and things will change. I have not read all of the books yet, but I will start soon!

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: Two Voice poem 2.13.14

Bruno                                                                                                                            Shmuel

I'm Bruno.
                                                                                                                                      I'm Shmuel.
Hi.
What are you doing on that side of the fence?
I live over on this side.
Are there a lot of people on that side?
                                                                                                                                   Hundreds.
On the count of three let's say how old we are. Ok?
                                                                                                                                     Ok.
1..2..3
                                                                I'm nine years old.
                                                                                                                           Hey, were the same age!
Yeah! Now lets say our birthdays.
                                                                                                                                Ok. 1...2...3
                                                                April 15th, 1934.
Are we twins?
                                                                                                                            I don't know.
Well we sure seem like it. Why aren't you over here?

I'm not sure. I was taken here when I was little with my family.

Oh. Yeah I was taken from my house in Berlin too.
                                                                                                               But it's not the same.
Why?
You see those people over there?
Who the soldiers?
Yes. They are bad. People on my side of the fence don't like them.
I don't like them either.
                                                         Especially Lieutenant Kotler.
You know him?
Yes, very well actually. He was one of the people who took my family from our home.

He is really weird and he creeps me out a lot.
You don't know the half of it.
Well I should get going.
                                                                                                                  Yeah me too.
I'll see you tomorrow.
                                                                                                                   Maybe.
What?
                                                                                                                Nothing.
                                                               Bye.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: Week of 2.03.14

Pages Read: 122-140
Prompt:  After reading, I wonder…

One of the things I read about was how Bruno went to see Shmuel again. (the boy in the striped pajamas on the other side of the fence.) Bruno still doesn't understand what it is like to be on the other side of the fence with thousands of other people. In Bruno's mind, he thinks that it is really fun over there because there are so many boys his age. Well, he's wrong. It actually is a bunch of Polish people who have been taken from their homes to be here in a different part of Poland. They are rarely given food and they never have time to play. Bruno doesn't get it at all, he always says "Maybe I can come over one day." Shmuel never likes when Bruno says stuff like that because he thinks that they will get into serious trouble.

Bruno comes back every single day to talk to Shmuel about why he was there and what had happened. When Bruno was off to go see Shmuel, he would bring some bread and cheese along so then Shmuel could eat the food. One week after seeing Shmuel everyday, he finally told Bruno what happened for him to get on that side of the fence. He started off saying "It was just a regular day when I came home and my mom told be to put a red scarf on my arm." Then he pointed to the one on his are and it had a star on it. "Then we were taken from our homes and put into one room with another family. In all there were eleven people in one room. After they took us there, the soldiers, they then put us on a train and sent us out here."

As for things at home for Bruno, he was still unsure why Pavel, his waiter, told him that if anyone asked who cleaned his cut, don't tell them it was Pavel. Well, it turns out that Pavel used to be a doctor. He isn't a doctor anymore and he isn't certified to be a real doctor anymore either. Since he wasn't certified anymore, Bruno's dad told Pavel that he could't do any sort of doctor "stuff".  When Bruno asked this question to Maria, the maid, she told him to sit down and talk to her. They talked about everything she knew so far.

After reading I wonder if Bruno will get caught going to see Shmuel. People on different sides aren't supposed to see each other, hence the huge fence between them.I wonder if his mom or dad will catch him while he is leaving the house or while he is walking to go is it Shmuel. I also wonder if Bruno will soon realize why the huge fence is there and why the other side of the fence is not a place you want to be.
