Beautiful Creatures: 4.24.14

Prompt: After reading I Wonder....
Pages Read: 45-75

So far, I read about Ethan Wate and his family. Ethan lives with his grandma and his dad. His grandma is hard on him when it comes to school and academics. His dad on the other hand, is always in his study room/ work room. Ethan never really spend quality time with his family but when he does, it is for a brief moment of time. He usually hangs out with his friends at school. When they heard about the new girl, he thought that it was good because he wanted to meet someone who was different from all the other people at school.

Another thing that I read about was about the new girl. She is the niece of a really old and mean man who is rude to everyone.  Ethan wanted to meet her to see what she was really like and if she was different from her uncle and different from other kids at school.

After reading I wonder if Lena is really the girl that Ethan was dreaming of or if he thinks that it is her. I also wonder if she really is different to the other people. I think that Lena will be different from the other girls because she is different in a unique way. I wonder if she gets treated differently or if she is just makes herself feel left out by being quiet. I also wonder if how her personality is. I look forward to reading on.

Beautiful Creatures 4.17.14

Pages Read: 1- 45
Prompt: What did you read about?

So, I just got my book yesterday at the book fair. I saw the movie and I know a little
background on it. So this book is a bout a guy name Ethan and he goes to high school in South Carolina. Then a new girl, Lena, comes to his school and she is like an outcast. No one has seen her before but Ethan has, in his dreams. Every night Ethan dreamt of the same thing, a girl falling and him trying to catch her. They instantly fall in love and find out that they can communicate with each other telepathically. Lena is a "Caster" who has her "fate" decided for her, when she turns 16 years old, the light side or the dark side. Lena and her family were cursed and that is why she is a Caster.

That was just a short summary of what I know from watching the movie. So far I read about Ethan talking about his school and how there is a new girl who is kind of weird. He said that he feels like he knows her from somewhere. He soon finds out that it is the girl in his dreams. Ethan then starts to hangout with her and finds out her name and a little about her. They start to hangout more and really connect. Since I just got this book and I have not read a lot, this is all I read about. But I do look forward to reading more on this book.

Did you like the book so far? Was the movie good? Which do you think will be better, the movie or the book?

I really do like the book so far because they use a lot of detail and a lot of description. I also like it because something about the way the other wrote the words and the names of the characters makes me really intrigued.  I thought the movie was really good and I hope the book is just as good if not better! Ii personally think that the book will be much, much better because it will have more description and more events that will really show you what the book is about.

Of Mice and Men Week of 4-07-14

Pages read: 1-38
Prompt: Explain one of the characters.

So far in the book, Lennie and George have been looking for a job.
When they got a job, the people there were a lot of other workers as well. One of them was a tall skinny man who was talking to the two boys about how everyone is. Then there was the bosses son, who was kind of being "bully" to Lennie. George kept taking for Lennie so it made Lennie seem like he was incapable of being able to do anything. George and Lennie seem like they have a very unique relationship.

Lennie is a kind of like the "shy" one. He never really gets to talk when someone asks him a question. George always does everything for Lennie and he doesn't give him a chance. I sort of feel bad for Lennie because it seems like no one believes in him. He is always getting "the short end of the stick". I wonder how he feels? Does he want to speak for himself? Does he like how George treats him? These are all questions that I have while reading. Does this still happen to Lennie throughout the book?

I wonder if Lennie continues to be picked on by the bosses son. What does he have against Lennie? Have the secretly met before? Lennie needs to learn how to stick up for himself and people need to treat him with respect. They also have to let him do things sometimes.

Wild Girls 4.3.14

Pages read: 46- 120
Prompt:  If you were a character in this book, who would you be? Why?

So far in my book there are two best friends, Sarah and Joan. They are not the most normal friends if thats what you want to call it. They do things differently than other friends would. First off, Joan and Sarah call each other animal names instead of their real names. Joan is "Newt" and Sarah is "Fox". Together, they are the best of friends who travel in the most unlikely places like the sewer tunnels. They go to the same school and they are partners for almost everything. Over the summer they plan on hanging out every single day!

There was a story contest and Fox and Newt  decided to write a story together and submit it. They called it "The Wild Girls". Fox and Newt ended up winning the contest and went to writing classes. This not only gave the girls a chance to write and bond, but it gave their parents a time to talk and hangout as well. Newt's mom hangs out with Fox's dad and they like planning adventures for the girls to do.

If I were one of the characters, I would probably be Joan. I would be Joan because she is not afraid to be herself at times, but then has her other side, shy and quiet. I think that she most relates to me. I also like how Joan isn't afraid to make friends with people she wouldn't have expected to. I try to do the same. Lastly, I would be Joan because she is confident and nice to everyone. Those are the most important qualities.
